Each year, around 160 new students begin their studies at SLIS - with about 20 of these students beginning in the Spring Semester. This year, new students admitted to begin in the Spring 2012 semester come from Wyoming, Indiana, China, West Virginia, Iran, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Washington. We look forward to welcoming them to SLIS.
The Spring Orientation sessions are designed to help prepare students to begin classes, and to meet future classmates.

There are many ways that a new student at SLIS can get involved. One of the best ways is to participate with a SLIS student groups. These student chapters of professional associations or of focused interests offer a great way to understand the profession, to build up your résumé, and to meet people. Student organizations will post announcements on the SLIS listservs, and in other ways.
Attending lecture series, brown bag luncheons, and other SLIS and campus events can also enrich studies at Indiana University.
As a student, many technology workshops and library seminars are available. These can help you develop skills to update your résumé.
