Angela Garrett will begin her Master of Library Science degree in January 2010 at the SLIS Indianapolis campus. She is the recipient of a fellowship package offered in partnership with the Indiana State Library. Below is an announcement about her award from the Kokomo, Indiana newspaper.

"Kokomo-Howard County Public Library (KHCPL) employee Angela Garrett is a recipient of Indiana's Librarians Leading in Diversity (I-LLID) Fellowship.
Angela is a native of Kokomo and the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Garrett. A graduate of Kokomo High School, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana State University. She went on to IU-Kokomo in the Teacher Certification Program and taught two years in Kokomo Center Schools. She is also a facilitator at Carver Community Center.
Angela has worked at the library for over two years in the Children's Department at KHCPL Main, and recently applied for the I-LLID Fellowship which is designed for individuals with diverse backgrounds. Angela will begin classes for her Masters in Library Science (MLS) degree in January. All MLS Diversity Fellows must be willing to commit to work a minimum of two years in Indiana libraries upon completion of their MLS degree.
